Pope Francis Reveals Himself

Recently our Pope used a word to describe traditionalists: rigid. This is revealing.

Why?

Because it is also a word used by seminary directors to describe pious seminarians who say the Rosary and want to wear the cassock, before they ‘send them home’. It is also, from memory, a word used to describe the priests and lay adherents of the SSPX i.e. enthusiastic Catholics!

What is the opposite of rigid? Flexible.
What do you call a man who is flexible in his religious beliefs and practices? A heretic.

To be a member of a religion means to subscribe wholeheartedly to a set of beliefs and practices and not to any which contradict. Religion is, fundamentally, exclusive.

It is the current desire to compromise with the World which has sapped vocations and increased lapsation for the past 40+ years.
